Another interesting hand washing story is about ESS catering in Angola. They use local labour to help with the catering on oil rigs etc. The challenge was how to raise the standard of hygiene up to best practice with people who were never taught the basics as children.
So GlitterBug was a quick and fun way to show how to effectively wash hands. The improvements in the work place were immediate and the exercise was viewed as a success.
That’s just bragging about a product and hardly worthy of a blog. It’s what happened next that is interesting.
These men (no this is not a blog on gender discrimination so please don’t comment on it) then went home and started to teach their wife and family about basic hygiene. Their wives then started washing their hands before preparing food etc. And result – improved health within their family and spreading out into their community.
