Food Safety at School

Times are slowly changing. I remember as a child taking my sandwich to school with ham, salami or cheese on it. In Wagga, the summer days would easily hit 35°C most days. Our school bags were nice little incubators.

Now my children have their insulated lunch bags, with ice packs, and their bags are kept inside in those nicely air-conditioned class rooms.

Until they hit high school. And then the insulated lunch bag is uncool. They wander from class room to classroom and the bags are often left in the corridor or playground. And so now we are back to our nice little incubators.

So what can I do to encourage my teenage kids to consider food safety a bit more? I am sure there is a simple solution.

I could drop a Thermocron temperature logger in their school bag, but I am sure that will just prove that I am totally uncool.
